Beat the credit crunch with family days out in Hampshire With the credit crunch biting and Christmas just around the corner, Hampshire County Council is giving families a low-cost lifeline to keep everybody entertained this winter.
Keeping Connexions Since 1 April 2008 important changes have taken place to services for young people. Advisory services provided by South Central Connexions joined together with existing services for young people provided by Hampshire County Council. While eight Connexions shop fronts across the county closed, services which had been previously offered have continued via a range of access points within the community, including schools, colleges, youth centres, libraries and through detached youth work.
Free money! Just a reminder that every child born after 1 Sept 2002 is entitled to receive £250 or £500 from the government if the family is on low income, to be invested until the child is 18.
Funding boost! Voluntary groups and organisations which work for the benefit of children, families and young people in Hampshire are to benefit from £700,000 worth of grants announced by Cllr David Kirk, Hampshire County Council's Children's Services Lead Member. Supported projects include conservation work, youth work, sports activities, sailing schemes, education and early years' support services, advocacy and counselling services.
