Practitioners

Working with children, young people and their families and carers? Welcome to HantsFish.
This site has been developed with practitioners to provide the resources they need to help children and young people get the best start in life. Watch out for news and regular updates on research and good practice to support children and families whatever their situation, and let us know if you hear about any new services so we can get them online. And don't forget the Hampshire Social Care Information and Library which offers an excellent service to practitioners across Hampshire and subscribing authorities.
Providing a web-based directory of services for children, young people, their families and carers is one of the requirements of the Children Act 2004. The key themes of Every Child Matters - Change for Children are explained in the DfES leaflet 'Making it Happen: working together for children, young people and families'.
Learn more about how we are making this happen in Hampshire from our from our leaflet 'The Change for Children Programme'; HantsFish web pages: Information sharing and confidentiality, the Common Assessment Framework, Lead Professional and development of Locality Teams.
For more information on Common Assessment Framework and Locality Teams visit the CAF pages, including booking on current CAF Training courses.
The implementation of the Change for Children programme began in the autumn of 2006 with Pathfinder sites in five different locations. We will be evaluating the work done by these pathfinders before finally rolling out the full programme of change across the rest of Hampshire by the end of 2008.
The Directory search will help you to find Hampshire services or try the useful websites we have selected for you in the right-hand menu on each page of information.
Your support in developing the whole HantsFish site is vital. Please use the feedback form to let us know what else you need to be on the website and send us links to organisations you find particularly useful in your work, as well as those which would be of interest to children, young people, their families and carers who live in Hampshire.
